Claremont Football Club Pavers Appeal

Wednesday, September 17, 2014 - 4:46 PM by Ken Casellas

Dear Claremont member,

I am writing to you as a member and supporter of the Claremont Football Club, to seek your help in an important fundraising project.

As you are no doubt aware, the club faces financial constraints in the next couple of years during its redevelopment, with regular income streams being disrupted,  extra costs arising from playing at the Showgrounds and the requirements of the new facility.

We are offering all members, supporters and sponsors the chance to buy a piece of Claremont history in the form of a paver to be placed in a position of your choice in front of the new club premises in Davies Road. The attached brochure shows where the pavers will be placed.

Pavers can be bought in the name of a company, an individual, a family or as a memorial. They will be a permanent recognition of your support for the club, as a player, a member, a sponsor or a regular match-goer.

The pavers cost $1195 for the bigger one and $295 for the smaller one. The cost is tax deductible under an agreement with the Australian Sports Foundation.

As you will be aware, I have been a member of the Claremont Football Club for more than 60 years and a Board member for 10,  and I am devoted to it. I believe that the good it does in providing, each year, the chance for hundreds of young men and boys to be part of a team, to develop and mature in a structured way, is something to be cherished.

The club’s reach among young people goes far beyond Claremont Oval. As well as the 13,000 participants in our Junior District and amateur clubs, another 10,000 young men play in teams in our regional zones in the Great Southern and the Kimberley.

Many of you will have been beneficiaries of the club’s dedicated and largely volunteer-based workforce, from match-day officials to our loyal, behind-the-scenes catering and maintenance teams.

I feel great pride each time I see a young person wearing the Claremont jumper and I delight in following their careers, whether as a junior, a colt, a reserve, a league player or into the AFL.

This is an exciting time for Claremont, with the redevelopment work starting.

It is a chance for us to consolidate and reinforce our goals as we plan for what lies ahead.

I certainly hope that you will be able to play a part in this new era.

With best wishes,

KEN CASELLAS
