Round 14 Preview - Subiaco v Claremont
By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont face Subiaco at Medibank Stadium on Saturday in a round where football will be at the forefront of a much more important cause.
As part of Men’s Health Week (June 13-19) the West Australian Football Commission has joined forces with Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia (PCFA) to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, in particular prostate cancer.
This year marks the third time football players across the state will don blue armbands as part of the Know Your Score round of WAFL to honour the men in WA who have lost their lives to prostate cancer.
All WAFL games played during the Know Your Score Round aim to raise awareness of prostate cancer and encourage men to be more proactive about their health by talking to their doctor about prostate cancer, as well as other major diseases they may be at risk of developing such as heart disease, lung cancer and strokes.
Darcy Cameron will be unavailable to face the Lions after suffering damaged teeth from a heavy challenge in the three-point defeat to West Perth in round 13.
The club wishes Darcy all the best with his recovery.
Matt Davies (hamstring), Jack Beeck (back) and Cameron Palmer (ankle) will be monitored after also sustaining injuries.
Meanwhile, Ryan Neates missed the match with a heel injury and will need to prove his fitness.
In good news for the Tigers, captain Jake Murphy and midfielder Jared Hardisty will be available to face the Lions after receiving a fine and reprimand respectively for striking reports.
Rowen Powell, Dylan Ross, Anton Hamp, Morgan Davies and Gerrick Weedon will all push their cases for selection after solid performances in the Reserves.
The club encourages all members and fans to attend the game and cheer on the mighty Tigers!
Bounce down is 2.15pm, following Reserves at 11.30am and Colts at 9am.
