Round 10 Preview Claremont v East Fremantle
Round 10 Preview Claremont vs. East Fremantle
by Dan Scamozzi
Claremont host East Fremantle at the Showgrounds on Saturday where it will be looking to end a four-game losing streak and record its third win for the season.
The Tigers suffered a 44-point defeat to Subiaco last Saturday and have not won since Round 5, while the Sharks have won their past three games to continue their resurgence under new coach Rob Wiley.
Keifer Yu and Jack Beeck responded to their League omissions with dominant performances for Claremont’s Reserves against Subiaco and will push their cases for recalls, while Justin Speed continued his solid form in midfield.
Claremont will need to lift its efforts in midfield after managing just 39 inside 50s against Subiaco, South Fremantle and 35 against West Perth in the past three rounds, and will need improved performances from forwards Darcy Cameron and Beau Maister after the pair were held goalless against the Lions.
Claremont has had the upper hand over East Fremantle in recent seasons, winning seven of the past 10 clashes, and hasn’t lost to the Sharks at the Showgrounds since Round 9, 2011.
A win for Claremont could see the team just one win outside the top five depending on other results, while East Fremantle will be looking to continue its pursuit of top-two teams South Fremantle and Subiaco.
The club encourages all members and fans to attend the game and cheer on the mighty Tigers.
Bounce down is 2.15pm, following Reserves at 11.30am and Colts at 9am.
