Former Subiaco Premiership player Marc Webb has been appointed to the senior
coaching position at Claremont Football Club, after finishing his outstanding
football career with Subiaco.
Webb retired as a player last year and took on the role of assistant coach to Chris
Waterman looking after the midfield at Subiaco.
Webb finished his 192 game playing career as a four (4) time Premiership player at
Subiaco (2004, 2006, 2007, & 2008), three (3) times Premiership Captain, a Simpson
Medallist is 2006, and Best Fairest in 2003, and a State representative three (3)
times.
Webb has beaten a quality field of applicants for the coaching position at
Claremont.
Claremont President Ken Venables stated “ The Club needed to find the suitable
replacement for Simon McPhee who would continue to build on our strong culture
and values we have built over the past 3 years. Although Marc has limited
experience in coaching, he has an abundance of knowledge, with the latest
game trends, forward thinking and well planned structures which will suit our player
group. We believe with good coaching support and mentors involved within our
Club, Marc has an excellent career in coaching ahead of him.
The Club has an outstanding record in sending coaches and players to higher
levels over the past 20 years, and we hope the trend will continue with Marc as he
takes on our senior role.
Webb stated “ I am extremely excited to be given the opportunity to coach the
Claremont League side. I have followed the progression of Claremont over the
past 3 years to one of the powers of the competition. I see a Club with great
values and I am rapt to be part of their future.”
