VOTE FOR BUZZ
We know that John (Buzz) Parkinson is a Claremont person through and through, having been born in the Tresillian Hospital in Nedlands and educated at the Graylands and Dalkeith primary schools and at Scotch College. And now he is seeking another important role in the local community --- as a Town of Claremont councillor.
He has spent most of his life as a Claremont resident, and now he and his wife Wendy Ann are enjoying living in a unit at the delightful Claremont On The Park development at Claremont Oval.
Parkinson is anxious to make a contribution to the local community and he has nominated for a position as a councillor for the Town of Claremont, representing the east ward. He humbly seeks your support in the upcoming local government elections and will be most grateful for your vote.
A successful businessman, Parkinson’s priority objective as a councillor is to encourage the Town of Claremont to develop a security policy which will offer all residents a comfortable level of assurance that they and their personal items are secure and safe from criminal interference.
He also is keen to support the council’s existing attitude towards good fiscal management and promoting community events which promote interaction for both small business and residential enjoyment.
Parkinson remains a passionate supporter of the Claremont Football Club, of which he is a life member and a club legend.
He was a teenager and the baby of the Claremont side when, in his twelfth senior match, he was a shining light in the club’s magnificent four-point victory over East Fremantle in the 1964 WAFL grand final. He went on to win the Sandover Medal in 1967 (in a tie with Bill Walker of Swan Districts) and represented Western Australia in two interstate matches.
He retired after having notched 156 league matches for Claremont. A talented rover, he was the club’s leading goalkicker in 1967, 1968 and 1970, and finished with a tally of 238 goals.
