Great Southern Success

Thursday, May 14, 2015 - 12:17 PM

Claremont came away victorious from their adventure south over the weekend celebrating a hard fought 11 point win over Swan Districts in Mount Barker.

Playing at the newly refurbished Sounness Park, the game was also the official opening of the brand new facility, one that will service the community and surrounds for many years to come.

The match was a resounding success with the organisation and planning from the Mount Barker Football Club and Shire of Plantagenet, in particular Brad Hook and Nicole Selesnew respectively, being enormous leading up to the event and on the day.

The Claremont Football Club acknowledges their efforts, as well as the Department of Sport and Recreation, the WAFL, the Great Southern Football League, and the Swan Districts Football Club for their efforts in making the match, and the weekend, the success it was.

In addition to the game, football clinics were conducted by the CFC playing group for more than 300 children in Mount Barker, Denmark and Albany over the weekend. High Performance coach Damien McMahon also delivered a coaching masterclass to the youth coaches in the region prior to the game on Saturday.

The league team will attempt to extend their winning streak to three over the weekend as they take on East Perth at the Showgrounds on Saturday.
