By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont (Reserves) recorded its eighth straight victory after defeating East Perth by 27 points at the Showgrounds to join the Royals on 12 wins.
The 10.10 (70) to 6.7 (43) result leaves the Tigers just percentage behind the Royals in second position on the ladder with a game in hand.
Claremont kicked three goals to nil in the final term and have now conceded the least amount of points in the competition.
The Tigers also laid 30 more tackles than the Royals and have kept their opposition to under 10 goals eight times this season.
Jake Waterman starred on debut with 19 disposals, nine marks, four tackles, five inside 50s and three goals.
Jack Bradshaw, lining up in his first Reserves’ game since 2013, was also a key contributor and capped off his busy game with four goals while Eddie Simpson chipped in with two.
Toby Plant, Bailey Banfield and Justin Speed won their share of the ball, while Zac Langdon laid 11 tackles and Jeremy Goddard won 44 hit outs.
East Perth was best served by Callum Hart, Daniel Perkins and Tom Omodei, however, Agid Gardoud was its only multiple goal kicker as the Royals suffered consecutive defeats.
Claremont will look to extend its winning streak to nine matches when it travels to Bendigo Bank Stadium to face Peel Thunder on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Claremont returned to winning ways in the Colts after coming from behind to defeat East Perth by two points, 9.10 (64) to 9.8 (62).
