Round 14 Reserves Report - Claremont v Subiaco
Five in a row for Tigers
By Dan Scamozzi
Claremont (Reserves) recorded its fifth consecutive win after defeating Subiaco by 21 points at Medibank Stadium last Saturday.
The Tigers led at every change in their 16.9 (105) to 12.12 (84) victory, and are building momentum as they head towards the business end of the season.
Despite recording 18 less inside 50s, Claremont made the most of their ventures forward, with Alex Manuel kicking three goals, while Dylan Ross, Zac Langdon, Matthew Ehlers and Ben Musitano each kicked two.
Toby Plant, Morgan Davies, Langdon and Lachlan Martinis all impressed for the Tigers, while Josh Bennett and Josh Houwen starred on debut.
Subiaco was best served by Ryan Vermeersch (four goals), along with the busy Matt Bogensperger and Jeremy Woodley (three goals).
Hugo Breakey, Ian Rowe, Langdon, Manuel, J. Bennett and Houwen came into the Claremont team who defeated West Perth seven days earlier for Rowen Powell, Anton Hamp, Ben Higgs, Gerrick Weedon (all League), John Williams and Adam Speed.
A twelve-goal-to-four first half gave Claremont a 48-point lead at half-time, and despite Subiaco kicking eight goals to four in the second half, the Tigers’ blistering start saw them record their ninth win for the season and maintain third position on the ladder.
Claremont will look to make it six straight wins when it hosts Perth at the Showgrounds on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Claremont claimed its third straight win in the Colts with a 24-point victory over Subiaco, 8.9 (57) to 5.3 (33).
