Evans laid low by ACL injury

By Ken Casellas

Talented small forward Lawrence Evans has damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season.

Evans, who celebrated his 20th birthday last month, hurt his knee when he changed direction in a contest with a South Fremantle opponent early in the first quarter of the reserves match at the Claremont Showgrounds last Saturday. The injury will require surgery and he will need several months of rehabilitation.

A charming young man, Evans, universally known as Killer, is one of nine players who have played in Claremont’s first seven reserves matches this season.

He made one appearance in the Tigers colts side in 2013 before chalking up another 15 games in 2014. He graduated to the reserves side last year when he played in 16 matches and delighted Claremont supporters with his magical skills and fierce determination.

Evans is philosophical about the injury and said that he was looking forward to working out in the gymnasium after surgery to prepare his body for the club’s pre-season preparation for the 2017 season.
