On June 30th the Churchlands Senior High School hosted their own Freo House Footy event. This event gave both the teachers and students the opportunity to get out there and play a bit of football against each other in a fun, non-contact environment. Four teams were evenly made to make two games of modified football, with each team sporting one of the four colours of the Fremantle Dockers.
The competition brought the whole school together as a range of participants took the opportunity to get involved, boys and girls, students and teachers. On the sidelines some of the Claremont Football Club players (Ryan Brabazon, Ian Richardson, Jake Murphy and Tom Ayton) cooked up a sausage sizzle for the on-lookers to enjoy. As the spectators got involved cheering, and the players got more into the game the whole event became a lot of fun.
Star Fremantle Dockers duo Chris Tarrant and Adam McPhee attended the event to give the players a few words of advice before taking the field, and then stayed back for a while to hang out with the staff and students. They were soon swarmed by people wanting photos with the players as well as ensuring every piece of Fremantle merchandise they had got a signature on it. Afterwards the kids were disappointed to have to return to their daily classes, but the footy provided a good relief from the daily grind.
